Google actually updates the search ranking algorithm every day. Mostly they are very small tweaks that have little effect on the position of your site in search results. However, sometimes Google makes big changes which can have a negative effect on a page’s ranking. What can you do about it?
Google says there is probably nothing you can fix. It it normal for sites to move around the ranking, That is not really helpful advice if your site has dropped down the ranking and it is now way down where no-one will find it.
The only advice offered is to improve the content. There are some very useful guidelines in this article on the Google Webmasters Central blog and it explains in detail how Google assesses a post on a website for inclusion in search results. Read it, memorize it, bookmark it.
