Day One is a very popular and award-winning journaling app for the iPhone, Android phone and Apple Mac. It was awarded App of the year, Apple Editor’s Choice and Apple Design Award and is highly rated in the app stores.
Automattic, the company behind WordPess.com, WooCommerce, Jetpack, Akismet, VaultPress, Tumblr, SimpleNote and other things, has added the app to its ever-growing collection.
Day One enables you to keep a diary, posting thoughts, things you do, photos, achievements and other things. Although there is an Apple Mac version, most people probably use it on their phone because it is so easy to capture a moment and add it to your diary.
Why would this phone app be of interest to Automattic? I think what people do with Day One is very similar to blogging and I would expect to see the ability to turn entries in the app into blog posts on WordPress sooner or later. Apparently there is a big update coming to Day One and this quite possibly has a publish option.
As you go about your life recording events, you will be able to tap a button and share everything with the world – easy blogging.
Are you a Day One user? Would you want to publish your diary online? There are obviously some things you would want to keep private, but if you blog anyway, Day One could make the process simpler.
