Reading tech news can be very frustrating and the reason is clickbait headlines. When looking through news feeds all you see is the headlines and an image. Often that headline is misleading, sensational, or just plain wrong.
For example, today I came across this headline, “Gmail warning issued to billions over storage. All of your emails may be deleted.” I’m in shock!
It turns out that if you exceed your storage capacity for more than 2 years then your emails could be deleted. Ah, that’s not so bad. Panic over.
Well if you exceed your storage limit you will not receive anymore emails because there is no space left and I think you would notice in 2 days, never mind 2 years. Then you could do something about it.
It is important to know what will happen if you abandon Gmail, but let’s do it without the panic inducing clickbait headline. Giving people 2 years is reasonable.
