I read that Google has made a VPN, which is a little bizarre. After all, a VPN is designed for privacy when using the internet, yet Google’s whole mission seems to be to gather as much information about people as possible.
Would you use a VPN from a company that puts so much effort into spying on your internet activities? I am not sure I would.
The VPN is initially for Android phone users and is part of Google One, but I would expect it to be made available for other devices and computers sooner or later. It is part of Google One app for Android and more info and more info can be found here https://one.google.com/about/vpn
From what I can see, this is a free extra for people on the 2 TB storage plan. I’m not, so I can’t use it even if I wanted to. However, I do wonder whether the fact that the VPN is made by Google, the company that probably knows more about you than your own mother, would put people off. Does this bother you?
